Flora

Dry deciduous forests with a range of trees, including Dhok (Anogeissus pendula), Khair, Ber, and Arjun dominate Sariska. Both herbivores and carnivores will find a rich home in the wide meadows and scrub vegetation scattered throughout the forested slopes. The terrain becomes rich green during monsoons, in contrast to its usually dry and tough look in summer. Seasonally occurring water sources and perennial springs help to maintain a wide variety of plant species all year long.

Fauna

Sariska is a shining success story in tiger conservation as a population of Royal Bengal tigers has been restored there. Aside from tigers, the reserve houses leopards, striped hyenas, jackals, jungle cats, and wild boars. Large animals including sambar deer, chital (spotted deer), nilgai (blue bull), and four-horned antelope find home on the broad grasslands and rocky hillsides. Among the more than 220 kinds of birds the reserve shelters are Indian peafowls, serpent eagles, sandgrouse, and golden-backed woodpeckers. The variety of the area is improved even more by reptiles such monitor lizards, cobras, and Indian rock pythons.
