Flora

With so much plant life, Corbett Tiger Reserve is a refuge for biodiversity. The main habitat for many species is the vast Sal forests that predominate in the area. Rich riverine vegetation grows along the riverbanks; many species of wildlife find food and cover from trees including Jamun, Khair, and Sissoo. Large grasslands called chaurs, which provide habitat for herbivores including deer and elephants, also abound on the reserve. Furthermore adding to the ecosystem are a wide variety of shrubs and medicinal herbs, so supporting both traditional healing methods and wildlife.

Fauna

Although Corbett Tiger Reserve is home to an amazing range of species, its Bengal tiger count is what most people know about. Leopards prowl the deep forests alongside these magnificent large cats, which makes sightings an exciting event. One can see huge herds of Asian elephants, spotted deer, sambar deer, and barking deer walking over the terrain. With more than 600 species—including eagles, hornbills, kingfishers, and a range of migratory birds—the reserve is also a paradise for birdwatchers. While a vibrant aquatic ecosystem supports a range of fish species, preserving the ecological balance of the area, reptiles including crocodiles, gharials, and many snake species call the rivers and wetlands home.
